Rava Uttapam

Rava Uttapam is a savory South Indian pancake made from semolina (rava) batter, topped with finely chopped vegetables like tomatoes, onions, and green chilies.   • 1 cup Semolina
  • ½ cup Curd, beaten
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup Water
  • 2 tsp Oil
  • ½ tsp Baking soda
  • For Chutney
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • ½ tsp Mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp Urad dal
  • 1 sprig Curry leaves
  • 2 dry Red chilli
  • ½ inch Ginger, slice
  • 1 medium slice Onion, slice
  • 4 medium Tomato, cube
  • 1 tbsp Tamarind pulp
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • ½ tbsp Jaggery
  • For Topping
  • 1 medium size Onion, finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • 1 medium size Tomato, finely chopped
  • A pinch of Red chilli powder
  • 1 Green chilli, chopped
    • For Batter
    1. In a bowl, add semolina, curd, salt to taste and water mix well. Rest for a few minutes.
    2. In another small bowl, add oil and baking soda and mix it well.
    3. Transfer this mixture into the batter and mix well.
    4. Heat a non-stick pan, pour a ladle full of batter in round shape.
    5. Sprinkle some chopped onion, coriander leaves,tomato, green chilli and red chilli powder.
    6. When the base is firm, flip it and cook it on the other side until it is cooked well. Cook on medium flame.
    7. Serve hot rava uttapam with chutney.
    • For Chutney
    1. Heat sesame oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves let it splutter well.
    2. Add dry red chilli, ginger saute it well.
    3. Add slice onion saute for 2 minutes.
    4. Add tomato and mix well and cook for 2-4 minutes on medium flame.
    5. Add tamarind pulp, red chilli powder and Jagger saute everything well. Switch off the flame.
    6. Once the mixture is cooldown transfer it into the grinder jar and grind into smooth paste.
    7. Transfer it into a bowl.
